The Lake Trail in Stanley Park runs west from Beaver Lake to the causeway, and, after traversing the pedestrian and equestrian overpass, continues to its end at Rawlings Trail, next to Stanley Park Drive, near Third Beach on the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the lesser used trails, and crosses the peninsula at one of its widest points.
West of the causeway it winds through thick, high forest, whose finest attribute is that it holds the sunlight in natural pockets produced by the arrangement of the leaves, especially in the upper branches of the trees where the predominant brown of the trees is capped by the deep blue of the sky. The three shades of light—bright green, forest brown, and sky blue—create marvels of beauty.
These photos were taken September 22nd, 2020, including some that are off-trail. I anticipate that some of these will appear in my second volume on Stanley Park. Book one, on the seawall, is nearing completion, and is likely to be available around the end of the year.
